Cultural Festival Celebrates Aegean Traditions in Mytilene
A vibrant 12-day cultural festival commenced in Mytilene, showcasing traditional songs, dances, and theatrical performances. Spearheaded by journalist Anastasia Spyridaki, the event commemorates the memories of the Asia Minor refugees, with artistic direction from Argyris Chatzimallis. The celebration features the ‘Aetoudia,’ a cultural tradition intertwined with the history of the Byzantine Empire. Approximately 130 participants from various associations present a nostalgic journey through music and dance, symbolizing the return of Aegean heritage as the winter solstice approaches.
