A 26-year-old former IT security manager of the Grand Ouest Hospital Group was arrested for orchestrating a significant cyberattack in October that targeted health institutions in Brittany and Pays de la Loire. The attack, described as a DDoS attack, disrupted information systems at La Sagesse clinic in Rennes, delaying surgeries and demanding a ransom of $650,741. Investigations revealed internal compromise indicators, leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest on December 17. He faces charges related to data interference and extraction, with a court appearance scheduled for February 6.
