Cybersecurity Risks Rise for Swiss SMEs Amidst Increased Attacks

A recent survey revealed that approximately 4% of Swiss small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and IT service providers fell victim to cyberattacks in the past three years, potentially affecting 24,000 companies nationwide. Financial damages impacted 73% of those affected. While 68% of IT providers recognize high risks, over half of SMEs underestimate the threat. Alarmingly, 40% lack emergency plans for serious attacks. Additionally, 5% of the general population reported being targeted. The study underscores a widespread need for improved cybersecurity awareness and readiness among both businesses and consumers.
