A furniture store offered free orthopedic mattresses, leading to overwhelming demand as families sought comfort amidst the devastation. Store owner Ikbal Dramsy Ladha distributed 80 mattresses, but the need remains critical with many still without adequate shelter or food. Despite reports of gradual improvements, authorities acknowledge that recovery is still a long way off, with the island having suffered extensive damage.
