In the aftermath of Cyclone Chido, the French humanitarian organization Red Cross reported that several hundred of its volunteers and employees in Mayotte remain unreachable. While 70 have been contacted, the organization clarified that this does not imply they are missing. The cyclone has severely impacted the already impoverished region, with many living in precarious housing completely destroyed. Communication remains largely unavailable, with 80% of mobile networks still down as of Tuesday.
