Cyprus President Reiterates Commitment Against Turkish Occupation on Anniversary of Pseudo-State Declaration

On the anniversary of the declaration of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, President Nikos Christodoulides emphasized that November 15, 1983, marks not only a sorrowful day but also an attempt to legitimize Turkish occupation. He reaffirmed that the Republic of Cyprus is the only legitimate state on the island and reaffirmed the commitment to resuming meaningful negotiations for reunification, stressing adherence to international law and EU values. Christodoulides condemned Turkey’s ongoing push for political legitimacy regarding its presence in the occupied areas, reiterating Cyprus’s sovereignty.
