A deceased male infant, believed to be about one month old, was discovered in a specially designed baby box outside the San Giovanni Battista church in Bari, Southern Italy. The parish priest, Father Antonio Ruzia, reported that an alarm system intended to notify him when a baby is placed in the box did not activate. The infant was found by a funeral director, raising questions about the functionality of the heating system in the box and whether the child was already deceased upon being left there. Authorities are investigating the incident.
