Death Toll Exceeds 528,500 in Syrian War, Reports Syrian Observatory for Human Rights

The Syrian war has resulted in over 528,500 deaths, with at least 181,939 civilians among the casualties since its onset in 2011, as reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). The report highlights 6,777 deaths in 2024 alone, including 3,598 civilians. The conflict, which started from a pro-democracy uprising against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, has intensified over the years with foreign interventions and the rise of jihadist groups.
