Greece recorded a 1.6% decrease in total deaths during the first 40 weeks of 2024, with 97,197 fatalities reported. This marks a decline of 1,571 deaths compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, the country has seen a 3.1% decrease from the average deaths recorded between 2018 and 2023. Significant declines are noted particularly among the elderly, while increases were seen in younger demographics, especially those aged 55 to 69. The highest reductions occurred in Attica, Thessaly, and Peloponnese regions.
