Denmark Announces Major Defense Spending Increase for Greenland Amid US Interest
The Danish government revealed a significant increase in defense spending for Greenland, shortly after US President Donald Trump reaffirmed his interest in acquiring the Arctic territory. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen noted the spending package could reach 12-15 billion kroner, aimed at enhancing military presence in the region and responding to potential threats from China and Russia. Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede responded to Trump, asserting that the territory is ‘not for sale’ but emphasized the need for ongoing cooperation.
