Denmark Increases Greenland Defense Spending Amid Trump’s Interest in Ownership
The Danish government has announced a significant increase in defense spending for Greenland, coinciding with President-elect Donald Trump’s reiteration of his interest in purchasing the territory. Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen indicated that the investment, estimated at $1.5 billion, would enhance military presence and capabilities in the strategically important Arctic region. Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede rejected the notion of sale but expressed willingness for cooperation and trade.
