Devastating Fire Strikes Barcarès Christmas Market Ahead of Opening
A significant fire broke out at the Barcarès Christmas market in France during the early hours of November 11, destroying seven wooden chalets and several storage containers. Approximately 65 firefighters and extensive resources were deployed to contain the blaze, which affected an area of nearly 4,000 m². The intense flames led to several gas explosions but were eventually brought under control by morning. With the market set to open on November 16, organizers are uncertain if the fire will delay the event, which attracts approximately 1.6 million visitors annually.
