Dillon Quirke Foundation Exceeds Cardiac Screening Goals, Promotes Awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome
The Dillon Quirke Foundation, established in memory of hurler Dillon Quirke who died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), has successfully provided cardiac screenings to over 10,000 individuals, surpassing its 2024 goal of 5,000. The foundation partnered with 275 sports clubs across Ireland to conduct these screenings, which have identified 243 individuals needing follow-up cardiology tests. Looking ahead, the foundation aims to continue its efforts to raise awareness and make screenings mandatory for young athletes.
