Donny M., sentenced for the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of 9-year-old Gino, has chosen not to appeal his conviction. His lawyers stated that despite disagreements with certain aspects of the ruling, M. accepts his 25-year prison sentence to spare Gino’s family from further distress during an appeal process. The court in Maastricht imposed the sentence in late November, which was less than the prosecution’s request for 28 years and mandatory treatment. M. has been diagnosed with multiple disorders, including pedophilia.
