Dr. Vivek Murthy Proposes Cancer Warning Labels on Alcohol
A recent study reveals that alcohol is responsible for 5% of preventable cancer cases, prompting U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy to call for warning labels on alcoholic beverages. The research indicates that alcohol contributes to about 100,000 cancer cases and 20,000 deaths annually in the United States, linked to seven different types of cancer, including breast and liver cancer. The implementation of these recommendations remains uncertain as the final decision will be made by Congress.
