Dublin Man Sentenced to Three Years for Partner Assault in Front of Children
A Dublin man, 35, has been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting his fiancée in front of her three children. During the 2019 attack, he choked her until she lost consciousness. Judge Sinéad Ní Chúlacháin condemned intimate partner violence as a societal scourge, noting the lasting psychological and emotional harm inflicted on the victim. Although the man has 42 prior convictions, he showed some improvement by staying drug-free and being employed since the offenses. The judge imposed a series of conditions, including participation in a violent offender program while incarcerated.
