Dutch Court Rejects NGOs’ Bid to Halt Arms Exports to Israel
A court in The Hague dismissed the request of ten pro-Palestinian NGOs to stop the Netherlands from exporting arms to Israel and trading with Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories. The court ruled that the Dutch state has the freedom to set its own policies, asserting there is no need for a blanket ban on military exports. The plaintiffs argued that the Dutch state, as a signatory of the Genocide Convention, has a duty to prevent genocide, referencing the International Court’s directive for Israel to prevent genocidal actions in Gaza.
