Dutch Economy Projected to Grow Slightly in 2025 Amid Consumer Spending
According to ING Research, the Dutch economy is expected to grow by 1.3% in 2025, following a 0.8% growth projection for 2024. The growth is primarily driven by consumer spending despite challenges such as high costs for wages, materials, and energy. ING’s chief economist, Marieke Blom, notes that the economy is reaching its growth limits, with labor shortages impacting business productivity. Additionally, geopolitical tensions and import tariffs proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump may hinder Dutch exports to the U.S., although the overall effect is expected to be limited.
