Dutch Premier Schoof Rejects Proposal to Monitor Opinions of Migrant Background Individuals
During a weekly press conference, Dutch Prime Minister Schoof announced that the government will not keep track of the opinions of individuals with a migration background, in response to a proposal from VVD Member of Parliament Bente Becker. The proposal aimed to collect data on cultural and religious values but sparked significant backlash on social media. Schoof emphasized a careful approach to the sensitive issue and suggested including such topics in a broader study conducted by the Social and Cultural Planning Bureau (SCP) that encompasses the entire population.
