Dutch Tax Advisor Frank Butselaar Faces US Court Over Alleged Tax Evasion Schemes
Frank Butselaar, a 65-year-old Dutch tax advisor known for working with celebrities, is on trial in New York for allegedly orchestrating tax evasion schemes for high-profile clients. The US prosecutor claims he enabled clients to evade approximately $100 million in taxes by shifting their businesses to regions like Cyprus and Guernsey. Butselaar, who has advised many Dutch entertainers like Tiƫsto and Afrojack, denies these allegations, asserting that taxes were duly paid. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison, with additional terms for each client involved. He has been detained in the US since his extradition from Italy earlier this year.
