E-bike Manufacturer Stella Files for Payment Suspension Amid Financial Struggles

Stella, a prominent Dutch e-bike manufacturer, has filed for a suspension of payments due to ongoing financial losses, reportedly amounting to €13 million in both 2023 and 2024. The company, which operates nearly 50 locations across the Netherlands and Belgium and employs around 440 people, has been wholly owned by DM Equity Partners since last year. DM Equity has decided against further investment, leading to Stella’s inability to meet its financial obligations. With approximately 1,000 customers awaiting their bikes after making deposits, the situation raises concerns similar to other struggling e-bike brands such as VanMoof and Qwic.
