Eight Sentenced in France for Involvement in Samuel Paty’s Murder

A French court has sentenced eight individuals to prison terms ranging from three to 16 years for their roles in the online hate campaign that led to the murder of teacher Samuel Paty. Paty was killed by Abdoullakh Anzorov in October 2020 after being falsely accused of showing students offensive images of the Prophet Muhammad. The case highlighted how misinformation spread through social media can incite violence, as several of the convicted had supported Anzorov’s actions, even if they claimed to lack knowledge of his intentions.
