Telecom company eir has committed to a €500 million investment to expand its fibre network across Ireland, aiming for universal gigabit broadband access by 2028. This investment aligns with the Government’s National Broadband Plan and supports over 2.4 million premises. An Economic and Social Impact Report highlights that eir has invested €1.7 billion in telecommunications over the past six years, directly employing 3,170 people and creating thousands of indirect jobs.
