The emergency shelter for refugees at the WTC in Leeuwarden will close before January 1, as the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) seeks alternative accommodations for the sixty asylum seekers currently there. Opened in March, the location was meant to ease overcrowding at the registration center in Ter Apel but has faced complaints regarding food quality and inadequate care. The COA aims to have the site cleared by December 31 to reallocate staff to other locations.
