Emergency Training Adapted for Climate Change Challenges in Greece

In response to increasing climate-related disasters, Greece’s Special Unit for Disaster Response (EMAK) conducted a rescue exercise in the rugged terrains of Pindos and the Aoor River. Rescuer Yiannis Holevas explained that the collaboration with Cyprus began in 2010, with training sessions occurring every three years to maintain certification. The exercises are now adapted to address new challenges such as fires and floods driven by climate change, empowering participants with critical knowledge to respond effectively in crisis situations.
