For the upcoming Carabao Cup semi-finals, referees in England will announce video assistant referee (VAR) decisions directly to supporters in stadiums. This trial aims to enhance transparency and understanding of key rulings, including decisions on handball and offside. The trial follows a similar initiative during the 2023 Women’s World Cup and will be tested in the matches between Arsenal and Newcastle, and Tottenham and Liverpool. The first legs are set for January 7 and 8, 2025.
