Éric Lombard Advocates for Timely French Budget Agreement
Éric Lombard, the French Minister of Economy and Finance, expressed the need for a non-censorship agreement to finalize the country’s budget swiftly. Aiming for a budget with efforts around 50 billion euros, Lombard emphasized that there would be no new tax increases beyond previously announced ones. He anticipates a public deficit of 5% to 5.5% of GDP by 2025 and stresses the importance of dialogue with political forces to ensure the budget is approved. Additionally, he noted a forthcoming decrease in the livret A interest rate to about 2.5%.
