Senior Russian officials have reacted strongly to Washington’s decision to permit Ukraine to strike deep into Russia using American long-range missiles, claiming it escalates the Ukraine conflict and could lead to World War III. Andrei Klisass, a prominent member of the Federation Council, warned that such escalation could devastate Ukraine, while Vladimir Dzhabarov emphasized the immediate response from Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier cautioned that Western involvement could fundamentally change the nature of the conflict.
