ETH Zurich has revised its admission criteria for students from 23 countries, with a particular focus on China, amid rising spying fears. The school aims to prevent military misuse of its education. Concerns have been raised by the Chinese student community, who feel unjustly targeted by the new policy. Anders Hagstrom, the school’s international affairs director, outlined that the selection process considers students’ country of origin, institution, funding source, and field of study to mitigate risks associated with dual-use technologies.
