EU Approves €300 Million Funding for Defense Projects to Strengthen Member States’ Coordination

The European Commission has approved funding for five cross-border defense projects aimed at enhancing coordinated planning among EU member states through the European Defense Industry Reinforcement through Common Procurement tool (EDIRPA). Each project, valued collectively at over €11 billion, will receive €60 million, focusing on air and missile defense systems, modern armored vehicles, and munitions. Notably, the MISTRAL initiative for short-range air defense and the CPoA 155mm artillery munitions project were highlighted. This effort, involving 20 member states, aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense amid ongoing conflicts and improve the EU’s readiness against threats.
