EU Budget Agreement Reaches Nearly €200 Billion for 2025
The EU has reached a preliminary agreement on a budget of nearly €200 billion for 2025, focusing on enhanced funding for border security, disaster response, and health research. This budget will exceed the current 2024 allocation of €189.4 billion. Significant funds will also be directed toward EU civil protection measures and allow member states to utilize up to 10% of cohesion funds for disaster prevention and recovery. The deal still requires formal ratification by EU member states and Parliament but is expected to pass smoothly. Germany remains the largest contributor, providing nearly a quarter of the budget.
