EU Environment Agency Warns of Dangerous Levels of Forever Chemicals in Waters

The European Environment Agency has reported that contamination from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), specifically perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), often exceeds safety thresholds in European waters. The report reveals that up to 100% of coastal waters and a significant portion of rivers and lakes show dangerous levels. The findings highlight a need for enhanced monitoring and data collection to address these persistent pollutants, classified as possible carcinogens by the World Health Organization.
