European Union Reaffirms Support for Ukraine During Independence Referendum Anniversary
During a visit to Kyiv on the anniversary of Ukraine’s independence referendum, European Council President Antonio Costa reiterated the EU’s unwavering support for Ukraine. He condemned Russia’s attacks and emphasized the necessity of respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The EU plans to provide substantial financial assistance, including €4.2 billion for Ukraine’s budget and monthly support of €1.5 billion for one year. Costa foresees future EU integration for Ukraine and announced a 15th sanctions package against Russia.
