The European Union representatives elaborated on their positions regarding the Syrian issue in a press briefing in Brussels, emphasizing the continuation of sanctions against Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which remains on the UN’s terrorist list. The EU plans to coordinate with member states concerning steps to be taken while urging safe and voluntary returns for Syrian refugees. The EU’s alignment with the UN’s views on Israeli occupation of Syrian territory was also reiterated, along with respect for the rights of all Syrian citizens including minority groups such as the Kurds.
