Evacuations Soar as Mount Kanlaon Erupts in the Philippines
Around 87,000 people have been evacuated in the Philippines following a sudden and intense eruption of Mount Kanlaon, which produced a large ash cloud and lava flows. Although no casualties have been reported, alert levels have been raised due to the potential for further eruptions. The ashfall has severely impacted visibility in regions up to 200 kilometers away, posing health risks and causing flight cancellations. A curfew has been imposed, and schools in affected areas have been closed.
