Family Appeals for Bone Marrow Donors for Their Children’s Rare Disease
Kiki Nanakou and Costas Gounaridis are facing a heartbreaking challenge as both of their sons suffer from a rare condition known as chronic granulomatous disease. After the elder son found a compatible bone marrow donor, they discovered that the younger son, 11-year-old Manolis, also requires a transplant. The family is hosting a donor drive in Kalamaria, encouraging the community to get involved. Experts have indicated that rare genetic mutations within the parents led to this situation, highlighting the need for increased awareness and support for bone marrow donation initiatives.
