A tragic fire in a four-story apartment building in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles on Sunday night resulted in one death and four severe injuries. The blaze started around 11:20 PM in one of the 16 apartments, where the occupant was unable to escape. The fire spread, destroying two additional units. Emergency responders used a ladder to rescue two individuals, including a 60-year-old woman who went into cardiac arrest. A 14-year-old boy and two women, aged 52 and 42, also sustained serious injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
