Final Edition of Switzerland’s Unique Art Supermarket to Close After 25 Years
The Kunstsupermarkt in Solothurn, Switzerland’s only art supermarket, is set to conclude its operations after 25 years, with the final event running until January 12, 2025. Established as a provocative alternative to the traditional art market, the Kunstsupermarkt offers art at fixed prices starting from 99 francs. Over its tenure, it has aimed to make art accessible to the general public, featuring works from both Swiss and international artists. The owner, Peter Lukas Meier, cited the need for less involvement as a reason for closure, marking the end of a distinctive art experience.
