Fiona Wood Becomes First Female Countdown Champion in 26 Years

Fiona Wood from Kinross has made history by becoming the first female champion of Channel 4’s Countdown since 1998. After a tightly contested final against Chris Kirby, Wood secured her victory by correctly solving the conundrum ‘lassitude.’ Wood encourages other women to participate in the competition, spurred on by appeals from Countdown’s host Colin Murray and others to increase female representation in the show.
