Fire in Chania, Crete Under Control Amid Difficult Terrain
A fire that broke out in the mountainous area between Zourva and Meskla in Chania, Crete, is currently in recession with no active fronts. Ground forces are working on extinguishing residual hotspots. The difficult terrain has hindered efforts, and a helicopter from Athens was unable to assist due to strong winds. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and is being transported to the hospital. Currently, 60 personnel and 20 fire vehicles remain on-site, with light rain beginning to aid in containment efforts.
