First-Time Voters Excited as Irish Elections Approach
On 29 November, thousands of young people in Ireland, including 18-year-old Ceylan Dilmac, will cast their votes for the first time. Dilmac, a student at Ardscoil Mhuire in Limerick, expressed her excitement about participating in the electoral process and believes her vote can make a difference. The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) is actively encouraging young voters, with initiatives like a ‘Spin the Wheel’ roadshow that has helped over 6,000 students register. USI also offers workshops to educate students on Irish politics ahead of the elections, ensuring their voices are heard.
