First Warning Issued to Dutch Shepherds Over Protection Against Wolves
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) issued its first warning to a sheep farmer for inadequate protection against wolves, following multiple attacks on his flock. The warning highlights the need for improved safety measures as a wolf pack resides near the farm. The NVWA aims to encourage better protective practices for all sheep. Farmers can apply for subsidies for wolf-proof fencing through BIJ12, although only half of the ten million euros allocated for this purpose has been utilized as of September.
