Bolivian authorities announced an arrest warrant for former President Evo Morales, accused of human trafficking involving a minor. The warrant, issued on October 16, relates to allegations that Morales had a relationship with a 15-year-old and fathered a child with her in 2016. Prosecutor Sandra Gutiérrez stated that despite attempts by law enforcement to execute the warrant, it has been difficult due to violent protests from Morales’ supporters who claim he is facing judicial persecution. Morales denies all allegations and has sought refuge in his political stronghold.
