Neil Beckett, a former school welfare officer and Army cadet leader from County Down, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting teenage girls over an eight-year period. The case involved 11 victims, primarily from Lagan College in Belfast, with the judge highlighting the abuse of trust and grooming elements in Beckett’s actions. Beckett was also issued a Sexual Offence Protection Order and will remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
