Former Soviet Pilot and Accomplice Sentenced for Smuggling €8 Million Heroin into Ireland

Two men, including former Soviet fighter pilot Zoltan Nemeth, received lengthy prison sentences for smuggling heroin worth over €8 million into Dublin. Aradi Ignac, 50, was sentenced to ten years, while Nemeth, 63, received eight years. The men flew a light aircraft into Weston Airport, where Garda officers intercepted them based on intelligence. They were found with 60kg of heroin concealed in the aircraft’s tail. Despite claiming ignorance of the cargo’s contents, evidence suggested otherwise. Both men, now in custody since December, face severe repercussions for their roles in this drug trafficking operation.
