The Paris prosecutor’s office has announced the indictment of former UDI president Jean-Christophe Lagarde in connection with a 2022 article by Le Point that falsely accused former LFI deputy Raquel Garrido and deputy Alexis Corbière. A police officer, Anouar Bouhadjela, was also indicted. Both men face charges of organized fraud and possession of stolen goods. The article led to a defamation lawsuit, which resulted in Le Point retracting the claims and acknowledging significant errors in its reporting.
