Former Welfare Officer Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of Vulnerable School Girls in Belfast

Neil Beckett, a former welfare officer at Lagan College in Belfast, has been found guilty of multiple sexual abuse charges against nine teenage girls. Over a five-week trial, evidence revealed that Beckett exploited his position of trust to manipulate and abuse vulnerable pupils, including girls aged 12 to 17. Victims reported inappropriate hugs and touching during supposed counseling sessions. The case has raised concerns about the protection of children in educational settings and has encouraged other potential victims to come forward and report similar abuses.
