Health authorities in France have authorized the reimbursement of the obesity medication Wegovy, albeit with several restrictions. Following a positive recommendation from the Haute Autorité de santé (HAS), the drug will be covered only for adults with severe obesity (BMI over 35) who have not achieved weight loss through diet alone. The treatment must be accompanied by a low-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Currently not reimbursed, Wegovy’s price is set freely until a final decision is made by health ministers.
