In 2024, France recorded some of the highest temperatures and rainfall levels in decades, as reported by Météo-France. With 2024 being one of the five hottest years on record and marked by significant flooding, the year also saw a 15% increase in rainfall compared to normal levels. Officials noted that the trends illustrate climate change impacts, with temperatures expected to continuously rise. Virginie Schwarz, CEO of Météo-France, indicated that such high temperatures could become the norm by 2050 if greenhouse gas emissions continue on their current trajectory.
