France Faces Urgent Labor Shortage in Personal Services Sector

Brice Alzon, president of the Federation of Personal Services Enterprises, warns of an impending labor crisis in France, predicting a need for 800,000 additional workers by 2040. Currently, the sector is short 150,000 workers, particularly in childcare and elder care. Alzon highlights the crucial role of non-EU foreign workers, who make up 25% of the workforce. As the population ages, demand for personal services is expected to rise further. Alzon advocates for the regularization of long-term undocumented workers to alleviate this shortage.
